[WIN] Emagic Logic 5.5.1 working with Oracle Virtualbox

Image

what u need:
Virtual Box: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
(download also the VirtualBox 4.1 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack)
Windows XP SP3 CD: google is ur friend
Emagic Logic 5.5.1 Platinium google is ur friend
lets say 5-10GB free space
1,5GB free RAM
a good cpu with dual or multi cores.

Step by Step Guide

1. install virtualbox and the extension pack.
2. create a new vm with this specs:
General:
MS Windows , Windows XP,
System:
Base Memory: 1535 is enough
Chipset: PIIX3
the rest like it is
Display:
Video Memory: 128MB
Enable 3D Acceleration
Storage:
HDD 10GB i would generate the full file on the harddisc before starting installing its faster!
CD Drive
Audio:
Windows DirectSound
ICH AC97
USB:
Enable USB 2.0(EHCI) Controller - if u wanna give ur midi controller a try - so far my Emu Xboard 25 is working by default in logic changed nothing.
Shared Folders:
Add a folder from the host pc to exchange easier files

then get started and insert the WINDOWSXP cd or use an image.
install it normally like u do on a normally pc.

after installing i was able to run windows xp in FullHD resolution. u should install the extension pack inside windows xp - it make things easier like automatically adjusting resolution to the size of the window.

after installing Logic 5:
u have to choose PC AV EASI MEI left the other option like that.
if logic isnt asking automatically for the audio driver and u cant play u can find them in the menu on top -->Audio-->Audio Preference--> Audio Driver.

then i would change somethings to get better performance.
disable desktop picture, use Windows classic theme.
and deactivate some internet option if u dont have or want internet inside the virtual machine.

ok it looks like that.

have fun with trying out logic on windows ;)
Time u need approx: 30 min up to an hour!
